The short version

Dotnote does not collect, store, or share any of your personal data. Your entries sync privately via iCloud and are never accessible to us.

Data storage

All data you create in Dotnote — entries, settings, and preferences — is stored on your device and synced privately through your iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. Your data resides on your device and on Apple's iCloud servers. We do not operate any servers that receive or store your data.

Data retention and deletion

You are in full control of your data at all times. You can delete individual entries within the app. If you delete the app, your data remains in iCloud and will restore when you reinstall. To permanently remove all data, delete your entries in the app before uninstalling, or go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage and delete Dotnote's data. We do not retain any copy of your data.

No accounts

Dotnote does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the app.

No analytics or tracking

Dotnote does not include any analytics frameworks, tracking pixels, or usage-monitoring tools. We have no way to see how you use the app.

No third-party sharing

Because we don't collect any data, there is nothing to share with third parties. No third-party SDKs with data collection capabilities are included in the app.

Subscription and payments

Dotnote is available as a monthly or yearly subscription. All payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. For information on how Apple handles your payment data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy (opens in new tab).

Apple infrastructure

Dotnote is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your data syncs through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) infrastructure. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by their iCloud Terms (opens in new tab) and Privacy Policy (opens in new tab). Apple may also collect its own App Store analytics as described in their privacy policy. We have no access to that data.

Children's privacy

Dotnote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
